Rusty Floorpan Question (photos included) 200 1980

Ok, so I have this 264 that has been converted to Chevrolet V8 power..

Anyway, the car looks pretty dang decent for being an Iowan car its whole life. (22 years)

No rust in the rear wheel wells.

BUT, right under the passenger's foot area, there is a BIG rust hole, but there is a visible piece of galvanized steel present. What I'm wondering is if this is a patch??? I figured the car was only one layer of steel, before you hit carpet.

There are some other rust photos in the directory. Basically, I worry about the torque of the engine, being able to really tweak this car into pieces.

(do any of you know of a rust-free 240 near Iowa, for sale, with a blown engine or something?)

So my only question is if this is a patch piece?

It looks pressed, similar to the normal floor.

I have only had the car, because I rebuilt the V8 engine. I haven't had it long enough to find out all the little details (ie: lifted up the carpet to see what's under there)

Thanks,

Luke.
