Stii having stall, no start problems 700 1986

Well I checked alot of things this weekend with no luck, my car still stalls, and then wont start. I checked the distributer and the hall sensor connections etc. Everything looks fine, and I am getting a good spark. I can hear the in tank fuel pump running, and have checked and re soldered the fuel pump relay. I am still wondering about the main fuel pump, I can't tell if it is running or not, and yes the fuel filter has been changed regularly. Any hints on checking the main fuel pump or anything else anyone can think of that I should check.
