Power seat repair on 960? 900 1997

Hello Norm, I have taken apart both seats on my 940 to fix seat back problems and both times it was because the cable that runs from the motor to the gearboxes would screw itself out of the drive connection when full extension or retraction was reached. Is your cable removable from the inop track side? If so disconnect it and see if it spins with the motor engaged. If so and both ends still have a nice square end matched with the gearbox or motor drive then you probably need to shorten the exterior housing about 1/4 inch. I drilled out the little indents that retain the metal end to the plastic housing, cut off about 1/4" (not the drive cable) of the cable housing then reinstalled the metal end with glue and lightly tapped it with a center punch. I have not had any more problems with either cable I performed this trick on. THe original cables would work fine until full travel was reached and then would jam up one side. Craig
