Poor Idle - Fixed 200 1992

Hi Folks,

I'm sure that most of you already know this, but my 1992 normally aspirated 245 began to idle poorly after cold starts and while sitting at traffic lights. So I decided to check the throttle body and air intake plenum. It ends up that the plastic flexible air intake had some oil inside of it and the throttle body was gunked up with a little oil too. So I cleaned it out a bit with a rag, toothbrush and some carb cleaner. I also checked the small hose that runs from the brass fitting on the throttle body to the flame trap and the hose was clogged. I was surprised that the hose was clogged because around Thanksgiving I had cleaned the flame trap and the little hose. Anyway, I put everything back together and it idles nice and smooth again. I checked my maintenance records and it had been about 30,000 miles since I last cleaned the throttle body.

Questions:

1. What causes oil to gunk up the throttle body?
2. Is it normal for oil to get into the plastick air intake hose?
3. Why would the small flame trap hose clog up so quickly after just cleaning it?
