B230 to replace B23F? 200 1983

How much finageling would it take to swap a b230 into an 83 244? My B23F is clogged up in the block causing it to run hotter than normal, thus raising the Nox level. Removed the draincock in the block to flush out the coolant, cant poke an icepick into the passage!(Rusted up- no telling how clogged the water jackets are.) Expert Volvo mechanic recommends boiling(rebuilding) the block! Cost about $2K , car worth $1K. Huge sentimental value. Would I have to change the ECU? Known bad AMM. What about mating to the auto tranny, motor mounts? I can wrench it, but no welding or cutting. Thanks, Mark
