Confused about vin # 200

I'm confused again. I decoded my vin right after I got my car and was confused. I soon forgot about it as I had more pressing issues. Seeing the post about decoding the vin reminded me. (Thanks alot.:) ) I drive a 4dr sedan with a B21F. However, my third letter is B, indicating a 260. My engine code is 45 which checks out as a B21F. What is up with this? I thought that the second numer in 260 or 240 always referred to the # of cylinders as the third did the # of doors. Is this not a hard and fast rule like I thought it was, or is my vin or car screwy. The old girl is going on 22 years so I'm pretty sure she's lead an adventurous life, but I'm just trying to figure things out. Could she have had a transplant of some sort along the way? She looks pretty stock to me. Any input, ancedotes, discussion? Throw it out there brickers.
