OverDrive installation this weekend... Do I need to do stuff?

It may boil down to "How big" are the metal shavings. Tiny flakes and bits can occur from grinding the gears. None of these will be larger than the big end of a stick pin. Anything larger and abnormal wear is occuring.

Strips of metal that look like twisted miniature twist ties like for garbage bags. These are formed by drilling and sometimes by planeing. These would have been left over from the manufacture of the tranny since I am not aware of anything inside a tranny that can generate this type of shape.
