Help Needed - seat disassembly 200 1981

I'm trying to get the driver's seat from my son's 81GL apart to do some rebuilding and fix the non-functioning seat heater. I'm stymied by the knobs which adjust the seat back angle and the lumbar support - how do I get these off? I've tried prying about as hard as I think the plastic will stand and no movement. Also, any other tips much appreciated!
