Transmission fluid & Thanks 120-130

Thanks for the help on the missing ignition key, cam gear and other related questions some time ago. I appreciate the humor a bunch, as well.

What's the right stuff to put into a 4-speed manual transmission ('64 122)? I think the owner's manual recommends a Castrol gear oil, but I've seen posts on the Brickboard that recommend something else. What's best? Another thing, I have an extra transmission (not working). I'm interested in taking it apart and using a manual to see how it works, comes apart and goes back together. It's partly an exercise in learning, and partly a hope that I can fix it, mostly the former. I can have it fixed for the cost of parts, but want to learn about it myself. Any advice?
