Spacers required for rear shocks on 245GLT??? 200

Got an '84 245 GLT with 201k. The front struts are weak as the car dives when the brakes are applied and the rear shocks are weak as it squats on acceleration.

The driver's side rear shock is my problem. The car is sagging on this end and whenever the tire compresses due to road terrain or bumps, I hear a metallic sound coming from the shock. It's the same sound I heard on my old '83 245GLT that had new struts put in the front but WITHOUT this so-called "spacer."

My question is whether or not these "spacers" are required for the REAR SHOCKS as well as the front struts?

I've been looking at strut/shock costs and the cheapest so far is from this place here in san diego that's selling the follwoing kits:

Bogue/sachs - $229
Bilstein touring - $199

These are for two front struts and two rear shocks.

Any difference between the Bilstein & the Bogue?
