The first question, besides asking the cost, you should ask is "Do you guarantee your work and what are the details of your guarantee"? Get it in writing! Some windshield intsallers are very sloppy--the windshield frame should be thouroughly cleaned-all moulding should be new. I can get the windshield replaced for about $150 ( '89 240 wagon), parts and labor, and they will do it at my residence while I watch-with a lifetime guarantee. I also would check how long they have been in business,and give the BBB a call first. Unless you are a "Volvo purist" don't pay for the "Volvo decal" on the glass--unnecessary--all glass must meet strict standards. Have you asked the original person that did your work about his guarantee? You may want to pursue that, and keep small claims in the back of your mind. Sometimes a hesitant person will suddenly take care of the problem when he recieves a "Small Claims" summons, or at least a certified letter to that person stating you will file small claims if the problem is not resolved within a reasonable amount of time--(15 days is reasonable for something like that.) Get a "return receipt"-keep it and a copy of the letter. Works for me.
