Changing heater hose/heater valve need help 700 1985

Hi,
I am trying to change my heater inlet hose - the one with the heater valve. The new hose is not shaped like the old one. It look more like a spring.

One end is almost in the shape of a U and the other end has a bend that looks like it would go at the heater connection. I can not figure out how to route the new one and where to cut it for the new valve. If anyone can describe it or send me a picture that would be great. Also if you could tell me the number of inches away from the heater end to cut it that would be a big help. The new valve is longer and there is only one area that is straight so it seems like that would be the best place to cut it. I am not sure if the vacuum line will reach there. Thanks for any tips.

Randy
