Valve shim job?

I read through the FAQ on adjusting valves and am thinking about doing myself. From my understanding I'll need the shims, valve depressor tool and the shim pliers, feeler gauge (I love the feeler gauge). I'll be following the Jim Bowers method. How much does a shim cost?

Should I even try and tackle this one or should I bring it in to the mechanic (60 bucks)?

The more Volvos I won the more cost effective it is to "do it my own damn self" (DIMOS). Especially when you do maintenance to the whole fleet all in one foul swoop.
