Does a fender replacement need any special sealant? 700

I need to replace the right fender. I was wonering if it is a good idea to put any special sealant or similar product along the fender edges where the bolt holes are or anywhere it seams up flush agaisnt other metal. Seems to me that these might be places for rust to start. Local Volvo body shop says, "We just rip em off and slap em on with no sealants." I know that 3m makes all kinds of wonderful sealant and caulk products for vehicles. Not sure what would be best though. If nothing else, think I will spray some CRC-SP400 on er.

Thanks,
diyer
