main fuel pump hums loudly after running a while 200 1982

My 240 quit on the highway one day. I checked the fuse, it was ok. The following work was completed. New in tank fuel pump, new main fuel pump, new accumulator, new fuel filter. After I run the car at highway speeds for about an hour, I hear the main fuel pump making a loud humming noise, and the fuel filter feels like fuel is surging through it. The car runs fine, but will eventually buck voilently, and then quit. All suggestions will be helpful. also, new injector o rings, and a clean flame trap
Thanks
