couple of questions post-ect replacement 700

1985 745t

So I just finished replacing the ECT in my brick, and I have a couple of questions that I was hoping some more experienced DIY folk could answer. BTW, allow me to apologize in advance if any of these questions sound ridiculously anal. I have a 200 mile trip tomorrow and really don't want to experience any "sudden" problems on the road.

1) Coolant at the Oil Separator
The ECT sits right above it, and I was worried going in about dribble from the ECT hole getting into the separator, either through the top (I had to remove the hose to get to the ECT) or by slipping past the gasket at the bottom. To prevent any leaks in the top I placed saran wrap over the nozzle and tied it down with a rubber band (don't ask how I got my hands in there for that one).

I ran the car up to operating temp and then checked the dipstick for any frothey bubbles that might indicate coolant in the oil. I didn't find any, and am at least partially relieved. However, I'm still not sure whether I should be worried or not, and changing the oil (as a precaution) isn't an immediate option (though it might be if someone tells my I really should).

Is there a risk of such leakage? Should I change the oil immediately? Would I see an indication on the dipstick if coolant had gotten down into the pan?

2) My second question involves how far to tighten the sensor. I didn't have access to any torque recs for the sensor, so I just put it on with a crush washer and tightened it down to a point where it seemed to refuse to go farther with a good amount of force. Icoluld have really forced it, but I was worried about damaging the sensor or the threads and figurec better safe than sorry.

After running it to operating temp. I examined it and didn't see any sign of a leak. Am I good to go? Should I get a torque wrench and actually check it?

Thanks in advance for any help, I really appreciate it.
