Cannot get Engine Temp Sensor Out!

I got the intake manifold back to get to the coolant sensor but I can't get past the electrical connector to get a socket on it! The connector will not come off to use a socket and I cannot get to the base with an open-end wrench! What am I missing! I feel like an idiot!

Help, if you can.
