Newbie interior questions 1800

Hello All,

Ignoring the school of originality for a moment, I was wondering if the following would be possible:

I will soon own a 1970 1800E. I know I want the silver look instead of the faux wood behind the gauges. I was told this would be pretty easy. I was also wondering if it would be difficult or expensive to replace the gauges themselves with ones from a '69 or older. ? I like the silver/chrome look a lot more. (Maybe I will like the original ones more once I get the silver (aluminum?) behind them. I'll just have to see.) Just wondering if the older gauges would fit without too much cutting and such. And if they would be hard to find.

I was also checking out wooden moto-lita steering wheels too. Yum. Hoping to find a used one. Should I look for "15 or "16? What diameter is the original wheel?

Thanks in advance. Hope I'm not hoggin' the board.

Steve in Richmond
