Wiper Problems 200 1983

Hi All,

recently I removed the wiper motor off the car to troubleshoot a water leak. When I put the wiper motor back on, and reconnected the wiper arms and the metal arm-thing under the glove box to the motor, the wiper arms will not rest in the correct position. They want to rest in the middle of the windshield, about half-way between top and bottom of a "full-sweep".

I removed the wiper arms & ran the motor a few times before re-connecting the wiper arms to try to fix it that way. Unfortunately that didn't work. I don't know what the metal arms under the glovebox are called: I've adjusted the angle of the arm that pivots, and that helps some, but it is still not working correctly.

Any suggestions on how to repair this problem? It's driving me nuts.
Do I need to disconnect the metal arms underneath, run the motor and then re-connect everything? I'm at a loss.

thanks,

susan.
