where to tap power for hood lamp from? 700 1991

I'd bet your car is prewired for the lamp. Look around the hood hinges for a wire that sneaks up into the hood -- that should be it. If the lamp is missing, the unused wire might be tucked outta sight somewhere.

To select the size of required fuse, remember that Watts equals volts times amps. The system is 12 volts. Thus, a 25-Watt bulb would draw just a hair more than 2 amps, although the cold inrush might around 4 amps.

I'd guess that the underhood lamp is around 10-15 Watts, or 1 to 1.5 amps.

A 5-amp fuse would protect your wiring just fine. I'd be content with the safety provided by a 10-amp fuse, and a 10-amp fuse would be more immune to early failure.
