where to tap power for hood lamp from? 700 1991

I have a 92 940GLE (B234 engine in Canada) It too is missing the light but it has the screw hole/mounting area for a light. I thought that the light was taken by PO but the mounting hole looks virgin so mine didn't ever have a light either. I do not think that the lights were eliminated B/C of heat (we have a B230FT and B234 w/o lights).?.?

I think that there may have been a period in the early 90's where the light assemblies using mercury were banned from cars produced in europe. It is possible that Volvo may not have had the newly redesigned light assemblies ready and ran out of the old lights for cars on the production line in Halifax. Therefore, our cars were left without lights while those cars produced shortly after may have got different hood lights. Just a thought - but I could be just spewing crap. Anyone else know for sure. Do the boys & girls close to the old Halifax plant know??

Tim
