Running and electrical problems 700 1985

So I went snowboarding yesterday... and when I got back to the parking lot to start my car things went bad. It started fine, but most of the lights in the dash were on (even ones on switches that were off) and pulsing. The headlights and turnsignals wouldn't work... and all of the gauges were just haywire (fuel gauge all the way to right, voltage not registering, temp all the way to the right, no tach or speedo).... VERY FRUSTRATING!!! The car seemed to be running alright though, so I decided to go home. I made it what I estimate to be 10 miles before the engine started to run wierdly... Mainly no power when accelerator was applied, just didn't want to rev much... So I pulled over, and one thing leads to another and I got it towed home. So now I have a dead volvo in my driveway. The headlights turn on when the car is off, but not when it is running. I got the alternator checked and it is not the alternator or the battery. Any ideas??? Thanks~ Ben

Oh, and everything was working when I parked it everything was working fine.
