wiring question - missing? 200 1981

Installed a large tach yesterday, but it doesn't read above 1500 rpm. I checked underhood and found that the white/red wire that should be on terminal 1 of the coil is not there! Since Bentley only starts at '83, are wiring diagrams the same? What I am trying to figure out is the exact path (including connectors, etc.) that the wire takes from the tach out to the coil.
