Oil pump? 200 1984

Just got a 242 for the kids. It has both an idiot light and an oil pressure gauge. When I decelerate, the idiot light comes on then goes out. At speed, the gauge reads around 4 bar but drops to about 1 bar at idle. Is this normal or is a new oil pump in my future? I haven't done an oil change yet but that will happen before the weekend is out. Maybe the oil is thinned out, yeah, sure.
