how to remove cranckshaft pulley on 82 240? 200

I need to remove the crankshaft pulley on my b21ft engine. How do I keep the pulley from spinning while removing the bolt? I read the instructions in my hanynes manual and the description says to remove the torque/flywheel access cover and wedge a large screwdriver between the teeth of the starter ring gear and the transmission case. That's it.... no picture. So, I crawled under the vehicle and the only thing I thought might be the cover would be the boot where the clutch cable meets the bearing release arm..??? But, I removed it and found nothing I could pry a screwdriver into? Is that it? or is it somewhere else? or does anyone else have a better idea on how to remove the pulley?
Thanx
Gustavson
