Rebuilt AMM 200

Happy New Year's

I bought a rebuilt amm from Volvo about a month ago for my 1985 244 DL. I have the 5390 light to set the amm meter. When I installed the amm I set the amm meter with the light blinking on and off on an equal cycle. The car started to idle a little differently over the holiday so I put the light back on the amm to see if it was still working correctly. I found the light was not blinking on and off; it was off meaning it is running lean. It now appears the amm cannot be adjusted. This thing has a one-year warranty from Volvo so I can take it back.

I would like to monitor the amm so I want to know if I can pull the light through the firewall; leave it hooked up to the amm meter without during any harm to anything under the hood.

Thank you,
Ted
