Question about headlight assemblies... 200 1986

I second what Chris said: Treat the silver coating VERY carefully, it's very fragile. On the first one I did, lots of soapy water and a very soft cloth ended up scratching it.. on the next one I just rinsed it with distilled water (so no deposits would be left behind) and used air to blow it dry. That way the siver coating never got touched with anything more than the water.

You can get that dried sealent out with a correct sized flathead screwdriver.

I used silicone adhesive/sealant but I read somewhere that waterbased sealant is better: something about the fumes from the silicone stuff damaging either the lens or the reflective coating.

After all the work, they came out just ok. I can't wait to get some e-codes.
