Stupid overdrive went off! 200 1986

I bought a 86 240 DL with 4 speed + OD this summer. The car always ran like a new car even if there are over 280000 km on the odometer. A week ago I took the car for a highway drive and I was not able to engage the overdrive, there are no clicking sound, the light does not come up; nothing! I have a feeling that it could be the switch that points out if the stick is in fourth gear or not. Can anyone tell me where this switch is situated and if it could the source of my problem?
As long as I drive in the city I don't really need it but I'm going for a long drive monday morning so it would be great if I could repair it by then.

Thanks
