Hi -

This is a SWAG, since I have experience with the 4-cyl 240's. When they started the Lamda Sond system, they wanted the owner to take the car in to a dealer periodically.

There should be a black box, about size of a cigarette soft pack, behind the instrument cluster. You can spot it by removing the knee padding and, with a flashlight, looking up from a lying-on-the-floor position. The box has a wiring harness and a 8 inch or so cable connected to the speedometer. There is a button on the box somewhere that is a reset.

Every somany miles (I forgot) the box flips a switch and the light comes on. There is no actual connection to the engine that I know of.

So, you can (1) reset the thing, (2) disconnect the speedo cable from the box, (3) disconnect the wiring harness from the box, of (4) disconnect the harness and the speedo cable and remove the box entirely.

But that's not to say that the oxygen sensor shouldn't be checked out. That, however, is another story.

PS If you have the B28 PRV V6 engine, search the archives for info on maintaining the oil flow to the camshaft. I understand that that engine has a design problem, but with proper oil (synthetic?) it can be handled.
