Headlamps stuck on bright 200

I've got a '91 240 wagon, so I'll start by saying I don't know if this will even apply there could be major differences - but I had this problem once, and it has happened a few times since on occasion.
What worked for me when my brights were stuck on was to turn the lights off completely, then pull the handle to turn the brights off, then turn the lights back on and things are back to normal.
I just thought I'd pass this along on the off-chance it might work - though I know it's such a goofy solution that probably only works with my car. Good luck.
