blower motor fuse 200 1988

This car belongs to my daughter who is in school about 2000 miles away, so I am not in a position to do much about it myself. I had her get some work done before she came home for Christmas (timing belt, water pump, front seals, O2 sensor, and oil change etc). On her return, she called saying that the heater fan doesn't work. A little long distance checking via telephone found that the blower motor fuse blows as soon as the fan switch is turned on. It doesn't seem to me that the work done would have anything to do with this problem. I am hoping that it is not a short or some other problem in the blower motor itself. If this meager information brings up any clues on the source of the problem, feedback would be greatly appreciated.
