Third seat hatch lock not locking 200

I have this rear third seat fitted. Came with the car and but never used it. Lately however it came in damn handy when moving a bunch of school kids around (parental duties).

When I opened it up I noticed the folded down hatch did not lock properly into the recessed locking clip on the rear cargo floor board. Upon investigation I noticed the locking clip is too far down for the latch to catch it (or the latch is too short (unlikely).

I tried to loosen it and fit an extra washer to lift it up a bit but I could not get it too go loose. The bolt just seems to just turn and turn. I understand from previous posts the mounting of the clip is rather complicated with an angle bar etc.

Assuming it is not a tapped hole and a nut is fitted on the other end (outside bottom) can I get to it or do I need to remove the entire fuel tank etc.

Anybody found a good solution to this non locking problem?
