Some say the west's dependence on (and over-consumption of) foreign oil is "fuelling" terrorism...
I need your help in the war against terrorism! I believe my trusty 145E might be working for bin Laden. Or, part of a breakaway terror-sympathetic group sent from Sweden in the early 1970's as a "sleeper agent" and is now being called into action.
Why do I suspect my car, you ask? Well, let me tell you... I've been watching my fuel economy (gas mileage) and believe it or not, I'm averaging about 110miles for every 10 us gallons, of premium! I'll do the math, that's 11mpg! Outrageous! Un-american(kind-of)! Definitely worse than my wife's Jeep, by god my car doesn't even have 4 wheel drive! As far as fuel consuption my car makes the "Navigator" and "Excursion" look like models of environmental responsibilty!
This, my fellow volvo-mericans(and volvo-peans, etc.) is an issue of national security! My car must be helped!
Here's some intel we have at present:
Bosch D-jet (circa 1972).
I don't smell gas under the hood.
New air filter, fuel filter.
Checked wiring connections, seem okay, without a multi-meter though.
I don't see gas pouring out from anywhere, hoses and tank seem sound.
In Sept. had fuel pressure set, rebuilt distributor, timing, tune-up, etc.
Put new/used thermal timer switch in, had none in it before.
Put in salvaged but sound brake booster.
Hand-brake NOT on.
Could this be a leaky injector? Wouldn't I smell gas?
Could the cold start system be constantly firing?
Temp sensors faulty? Sending ECU wrong info.
What about that dial on the back of the ECU anyway?
I don't have a multi-meter. Is it possible to trouble shoot this problem, to root out this evil with just a test-lamp?
Any advice greatly appreciated. Thanks.

I just want to be a part of the solution, not the problem.
