Cooling Fans... 140-160

Sure, no problem. Get yourself a fan about as big as the radiator - pushers seem to work best and you'll clear up some space in the front of the engine bay. Install it, either wire it permanently or fashion a thermostatic element somewhere in the circuit, and remove the metal fan. It's said to free up a couple of HP, too, although I haven't personally done any dyno tests to verify this claim.

Still, it's hard to beat the original fan for simplicity and reliability, and it's not all that heavy. I'm far less fond of the later metal thermostatic fans that are fixed by but a single bolt to the water pump; I had one of those break loose at 3500 rpm. Bye bye fan, bye bye radiator, bye bye coolant, bye bye water pump belt, and hello mr. tow truck driver.

Bram
