replacing the lower steering u-joint...do I need to pull the whole rack? 200

I'm about to replace the lower steering u-joint on a 90 240 auto, siezed?
Can this be done by just un-bolting the u-joint on both ends and sliding up and out?
It looks to be, but the neither the Haynes nor Bently manuals explain just replacing the u-joint.
Any advice would be much appreciated.
