Wiper Relay Question 200 1981

Thanks for the earlier tips. I found the wiper relay, removed it, opened it, and watched a pile of rust dust come out. Everything inside was covered with rust and corrosion. I cleaned it as much as possible, but it still looks terrible. My intermittents still do not work, and the relay appears well beyond Fosterization even if I were a good solderer, which I'm not. I'm not sure how the relay works inside or what wiper functions it controls. Can I assume that a corroded relay is the likely culprit in non-functioning intermittent wipers? It has to be the likely cause of something bad. This relay was, and still is, a mess. Also, are the aftermarket relays of good quality, or should this part come from Volvo?
