Steering wheel - how to remove for interchange 200 1981

I would like to remove the steering wheel from the '81 and put on a newer one - the newer ones are smaller circumference. What is the procedure and tools needed to get the '81 wheel off? I have the 27mm deep well and have already sourced a newer wheel. Hopefully they can directly interchange.
