Temperature control repair 200 1991

I have read a bunch of helpful stuff about the 240's temperature control repair. Seems to be a common failure. The symptom are as follows. The air comes out REALLY hot at all settings save for completely to the left. And even then it takes a while to cool down. At "fully to the left" setting the air is completely unheated. So I get either completely cold (slider all the way to the left) or completely hot (slider anywhere BUT all the way to the lefet). As I understand it, there is a retrofit kit for the cars equiped with the old style vlave. At the risk of reviving an old thread, can someone give me some hints as to how to accomplish this repair inthe most time and money efficient manner?

As usulal, TIA
