Sach absorbers - Are they okay? 900 1995

I've been introduced to the Gabriel shocks by a parts dealers some time back. Some members of this Board have given my a not so good opinion of these shocks, which I relate back to the parts dealer. Now he is suggesting that I use the Sach absorbers that comes in Sach packing and not Boge (I was informed that Boge and Sach are the same).
On examining the shocks I notice that the center rod is about half the diameter of the orignal volvo shocks. So, are the Sach shocks okay and up to the task?
Also there are two variants to the Sach shocks - one is filled with gas and the other oil. The parts dealers recommended that I use the gas filled ones for the rear and the oil filled for the front.

What are your opinions and experiences?

Thanks for sharing.
