fuel pump relay getting hot 200 1980

'80 245

I was poking around behind the dash today to try to replace my headlight switch, and I noticed that my fuel pump relay smelled (and felt) hot. The plastic around the connectors on opposite corners is warped from the heat, and inside the case the PC board looks scorched in one spot. The car runs fine, though it has idled a bit high over the last couple weeks.

Has anyone had a similar situation? What causes it, what fixes it, and what will it eventually lead to if not fixed?

Also, anyone know how to remove the headlight switch? I never did figure it out.

Thanks,
JP
