Hit-and-run, dammit! 200

Earlier this afternoon, a Mustang slid into my 1992 wagon in the rain and drove off.

Superficially, the only damage is that the rear bumper is pushed in on one side--it didn't rebound. The tailgate still works, and none of the body panels look out of line. Tomorrow I'll take the car to a shop so they can inspect it underneath. It's too wet to get under there today.

I think this car was rear-ended when it was new. It has some repaint on the rear, but perfectly done, which makes me think it was repaired by a dealer using the original Volvo paint. A mechanic also showed me what he said was a little painted filler at the tailgate sill. And having been hit once, the rear body may not be as strong as it would be otherwise.

Does anyone have any advice regarding a rear hit on this particular model? Clearly, the bumpers are not as stout as on my 1980 (which survived a similar hit with absolutely *no* damage).
