No heat 700 1990

Happy New Year to all,
Have a lack of heat in my 760 turbo 1990. Thermostat is functioning: hoses going thru the firewall are VERY HOT. The A/C lighted switch is blinking. Just read in my (useless) Chilton manual that if the light is flashing, this indicates an error. Of course it doesn't say what the error is, or what to do about it. Any thoughts??
