fusable link? 200 1991

Well, I've gone from bad to worse on this repair attempt. I replaced my starter solenoid and think I might have put a wire on wrong or somehow one of the wires went to ground. When I tried to start it the starter sounded like it got juice for a split second then, Zap, everything went dead. Any ideas on what I may have blown? I checked the fuses under the dash and all are ok. Are there fuses I should check under the hood? Is there a fusable link coming off the starter? I am lost. To top it all off, I'm pretty sure the original culprit was the SIS switch in the shifter. After I installed the solenoid, the car still wouldn't start. Power, but not to the starter. So, I pulled off the shifter cover and sure enough, the pin had slipped off the plastic triangle. After putting the pin back on and trying to start it again was when it shorted. One day I'll learn to start with the easy stuff. Any input is greatly appreciated.
