High Octane Fuel? 200

The user's manual for my 1990 240 Wagon says to put in 90 Octane fuel. Now, most of the pumps in my area have 87, 89, or 93. Should I put in the 93? What are the benefits of putting in the higher octane? Is is worth the extra few bucks?
