sporadic super low/no idle upon cold start 700 1990

My 1990 740 GL very occasionally will just barely idle upon cold start and for just the first minute or two of running.
It's only done it 6 or 8 times in the last few months, but the tach reads maybe 200 rpm and shifting the auto trans into gear is just enough to kill the engine.
Within 1-2 minutes of running when it does this, it returns by itself to normal idle and runs great.
