544 light switch problems 444-544

I took apart the headlight switch from my 1961 210 which is has six volt system. The switch was held together by a couple of small screws and when the switch was apart it was very simple, looked rugged, and was easy to tweak and put back together. The only part of the switch that looked hard to get to was the instrument light dimming resistor. I think you should take your old one apart, mine was very easy to fix. I only have experience with the six volt switch, but I think your car came 6 volt also.
