The Broken Down M41 Transmission Blues 1800

The car: '73 1800ES The engine: '74 B20(F?) The Clutch: Sachs
Transmission: M41 W/OD (early, I believe)

The problem: I've just installed my 4th M41 transmission on this wonderful engine I've had in the car for 4 years now. Before that, I had run on the original for 6 years. The newer engine and clutch (exactly the same, as I remember) totalled that one immediately after installation and every one since.

It's always the same. At first everything is cool...no problems. Then, little by little, the car starts to jump out of 4th gear on occasion upon deceleration, then regularly, then I find myself jamming down on the shifter just to keep it in every time I drive.

Now...these have all been used transmissions but come on.
The engine I installed was, and is, in tip top shape if that matters.

I'm looking for every possible theory you can come up with here.
