Repairing 940 Door Pucker 900

My recently acquired 94 940 has the infamous vinyl pucker on the doors. The front passenger side is the most pronounced. This is basically my kids car so I do not want to pursue replacing the panels as I have read elsewhere on Brickboard...to the tune of $400 or so. Instead, I think I'll perform some sort of "plastic" surgery by cutting the buckled portions with an Exacto knife, overlapping and regluing.
Has anyone else don this? What type of adhesive would be the best to reglue the door vinyl? Thanks!
