Is it okay to jump a 122s without a battery? 120-130 1967

I need to move the car because I got one of those friendly little notices superglued onto the windshield from the parking vultures... I only have one battery in the other 122--- can I jump the one with no battery with my good car, disconnect the jumper cables and let it run off the generator with no battery long enough to grind the bad transmission into gear and move it around the block?? I've heard this is bad for alternator-equiped cars, but this isn't the case, as I have a generator in there. While I'm here, what's the difference between generators and alternators anyhow?

ALSO: In the dead car, the fan is loose and rattly but the bolts seem tight... Is this a bad water pump?

Thanks,

Ben
