two dumb questions 200 1979

ok, first question: when adding auto trans fluid, do I just use a funnel and pour it into the dipstick, and also, is type F fluid what I want to put into the three speed gearbox of my 79?

second question: my manual says to use ATF fluid for the power steering. Does ATF mean what I think it means, as in automatic transmission fluid? I've never heard of putting trans fluid into the power steering!

Sorry about these newbie questions, but the car is my girlfiend's and I don't know too much about it!
